It was a fine performance from German CB Antonio Rüdiger last night, as he opened his goal scoring account for this season’s UCL at the Bernabéu. In what was a game full of surprises and entertainment, Real Madrid came out on top winning 3-1 on the night.
Prior to the clash, star defender Antonio Rüdiger was one of the many Real Madrid players who spoke to the media. The German discussed on a variety of topics, including Endrick, the slaps he received, his goal and what playing for Real Madrid meant to him.
Rüdiger’s post match presser
To start his presser, Rüdiger was full of joy being a Real Madrid player, and showered praises on the capital club saying;
“Playing for Madrid is an honour. Even if I have to play with one leg for Real Madrid, I will.”
Real Madrid were initially awarded a penalty on the night, for what was seen as a challenge on Rüdiger. However, VAR soon overturned the call, and Rüdiger had this to say about the incident;
“No it wasn’t a penalty. He touched me a bit but it’s not a penalty.”
Despite taking all three points and scoring three goals, Real Madrid were far from their best. On the team’s form, he said;
“Fatigue is a cliché. It happens to everyone. We will play good again.
Competition debutant Endrick, scored a sensational goal on the night. On that goal, Rüdiger said;
“Endrick. No, Not Endrick, Bobby (laughs).
Bobby has a lot of personality. Thank God he scored the goal, otherwise there would be problems.”
Finally, Rüdiger commented on the incident were all his teammates gathered and slapped him after his goal as payback. The German jokingly said:
“If I score more goals, they can keep slapping me, don’t worry. But they will score, so I will definitely get back at them.”
It was a fine performance indeed for Rüdiger on the night as we earlier said. His game vs Stuttgart by numbers includes;
60 touches
91% pass accuracy
3/3 long balls
6 clearances
4 duels won
1 goal
