Real Madrid are back in action tonight, playing away to Real sociedad at the Reale Arena. Carlo Ancelotti and co. will be looking to extend their winning run, after a comfortable 2-0 win against las Palmas, courtesy of a kylian Mbappe brace two weeks ago.
Ahead of the showdown, injuries have not been kind to the Italian gaffer, with the Midfield duo of Jude Bellingham and Tchouaméni completely ruled out, adding to the already absent Camavinga and Ceballos in the Midfield department.
Bearing in mind all absentees, Madrid my DNA provides you with a possible lineup which Carlo Ancelotti could use tonight.
Defenders
Gk: Thibaut Courtois;
The best at what he does, Courtois gets the start easily in any manager’s roster.
RB: Dani Carvajal;
Carvajal seems to be aging like fine wine under Carlo Ancelotti. The Spaniard has been showing glimbs of prime Carvajal 2017, and is arguably the best RB in the world currently.
CB: E Militão;
Although he was said to have suffered an injury while on international duty, the effects were short lasting and Militão is expected to feature from the start tonight.
CB: Rüdiger;
An absolute work-horse in this defence, Rüdiger is always there connecting the pieces, and his partnership with Militão is looking quite interesting.
LB: F Mendy;
Another player who was reported injured upon arrival at the French camp, Mendy’s recovery was brief. Now fit, it’s expected that Ancelotti will count on his trusted stalwart from the start
Midfielder
CM: Fede Valverde;
When it comes to fitness, no one beats Valverde. His work rate and leadership on the pitch are currently second to none in Midfield. Every club needs a Valverde in their team.
CM: Luka Modrić;
Captain of this Real Madrid side, 39 years old Luka Modrić keeps proving age is just a number. Although his inclusion is largely owed to injuries, performing at the highest level at such an age isn’t luck nor coincidence. Modrić has always stepped up to the plate when called upon by the manager, and the quality has never lacked.
AM: Arda Güler;
There was a debate on who would start between Brahim and Güler, but Güler might just get the notch. Brahim’s ability to perform exceptionally as a substitute might have a part to play here.
Attackers
RW: Rodrygo;
After being snubbed for the Ballon d’Or nomination, Rodrygo will look to prove critics wrong. The young Brazilian will be hoping to kick the ground running against Real sociedad tonight.
LW: Vinicius Jr;
After a poor outing with Brazil, Vinicius will be hoping to find his footing tonight. There’s no doubt he’s an untouchable player for madrid, but once more he’s been asked to prove it.
CF: Kylian Mbappe;
A huge weight was lifted off his shoulders when he scored the brace against las Palmas. Now with the pressure aside, it’s time for Real talk and kylian is not one to shy away in this moments.
