Today marked the beginning of an era at Real Madrid, as the Merengues begin a dynasty with head coach Alonso. The Spanish tactician commenced duty earlier today, as he prepares the players for the club World Cup. A competition which will be his first bus stop at Real Madrid.
However, With players out on international duties, Xabi Alonso was met by only a few players on day one. First team players available included: Carvajal, Brahim, Militão, Alaba, Courtois, Valverde, Lucas, Fran, Ceballos, Asencio and Rodrygo.
Alonso also promoted a handful of academy players to train with the first team including: Sergio Mestre, Fran González, Chema, Yusi, Gonzalo, Jacobo, Víctor Muñoz, Fortea, Diego Aguado, Mario Martín.
Players recovering from injuries such as Mendy, Rüdiger, Endrick, Camavinga were also present.
Alonso worked on A LOT of intensity
As per Spanish Journalist Rodra, he claimed the first thing he heard of Alonso’s first training session was a lot of INTESITY. The squad after the training session conveyed strength and excitement.
Arriving at Valdebebas 3 hours beforehand at 7:30 in the morning, the coach held a very long tactical meeting with his staff. The topic was focusing and discussing on what approach to use, and what to focus on.
An official training statement read: “The players performed challenging & varied drills focusing on POSSESION, CONTROL, BUILD-UP, and PRESSING.” The manager is looking to instill a new mentality and game approach to the players.
Infact, a source from marca claimed the coach even said: “There’s a lot of work to be done.” This comes after he spent an estimated total of 10 hours and 30 minutes at Valdebebas today.
The coach will welcome more players back from international duties at Valdebebas this week. Others like Vinicius Jr, and Arda Guler who are already in the United States will meet in at camp over there.
