From signing Galacticos such as Zidane, Beckham, and Figo, to signing young and promising talents such as Vinicius Jr (18), Rodrygo (18), Valverde (18) Bellingham (20) and Endrick (18) amongst others, Real Madrid has witnessed a massive transformation in their transfer policy over the years.
Indeed, this has worked out quite well for the Royal whites, with other clubs following same pattern in recent time. Now, another major report has linked Real Madrid with another young Midfielder.
Real Madrid’s interest in German Barbas
German Barbas has cought madrid’s attention
German Barbas(16), plays his trade with Uruguayan outfit panerol. The young Midfielder by trade is fast becoming a sought-after young talent in the south American market, and Real Madrid are now weighing a possibility of a transfer.
Indeed, as reported by Spanish newspaper Marca (via the Madrid zone), Real Madrid have started following German Barbas.
The 16-year-old made his debut earlier this year against Progreso, becoming the second-youngest player ever in the Uruguayan first division, and featuring for 11 minutes.
The young talent’s progress after his debut has been the key factor for Madrid’s long standing interest. His attacking contributions and maturity beyond his age are much valued at madrid.
Aside his on-field quality, German Barbas fits the profile Real Madrid wants, with the club admiring how he carries himself.
However, interest in Barbas came after Madrid’s decision to back out from the race of prime target Franco mastantuono, as the club did not like how River plates were handling the transfer.
Barbas has a contract with Peñarol until 2026 and a release clause of €12m. A fee which will cause no hurdle in madrid’s interest if the club do intend to take the signing seriously.
Being just 16, German Barbas will have to wait till he turns 18 before join Real Madrid, if a deal does materialises, a scenario similar to that of Endrick who signed for Madrid in December 2022, while still 16, but only got the chance to join 2 years later (this summer).
