UEFA Opens Investigation Into Real Madrid’s Celebration Against Atlético In UCL R16

City rivals, Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid were drawn against each other in this year’s UEFA champions league R16. For not the first time, Real Madrid got past their fierce rivals after penalty shootouts.

With the 1st leg payed at the Bernabéu, Real Madrid merged  2-1 winners. However, all the drama was saved for the second leg at the metropolitano.

Atlético got the early lead at the metropolitano even before 30 seconds, and somehow managed to see-out that scoreline. 2-2 on aggregate, the game proceeded to extra time, and then to penalties. Real Madrid eventually came out 4-2 victors after Rüdiger’s decisive penalty.

During celebrations, it looks like some Real Madrid players might have crossed the line. Atleast that’s what Atlético Madrid wants us to believe.

They have sent four images to UEFA, containing clips of Rüdiger, Vinicius Jr, Ceballos and kylian Mbappe. According to them, this players may have violated some rules during their celebrations.

In response to this, UEFA has opened investigations on the said players. UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector has been appointed to investigate allegations of the incident. This immerges Courtesy of a report from journalist Arancha Rodriguez

Of course, they all remain innocent of this allegations until proven guilty. However, the severity of any punishment is still unknown.

Some sources claim match suspensions could be impose on the said players if found guilty, but the truth is no one is 100% certain yet.

As it stands, Real Madrid have not yet commented on the matter, but you would imagine they are cooking a counter report for this allegations. With a very demanding first leg against arsenal coming up in just little less than 2 weeks, Real Madrid can’t risk losing any of this players to suspension.

Meanwhile For the meantime, the least we can do is wait. Only time can tell what awaits the said players.
