Yesterday was the big day for English star Trent, as he officially completed his move to Real Madrid. The Englishman underwent medicals in the early hours of the morning, then took off for Real Madrid City where his presentation was scheduled to take place.
On arrival at the Real Madrid City, Trent shocked everyone, giving his presentation speech in perfect Spanish. This had everyone in the building delighted and clapping their hands for one long minute.
Here are the words from his presentation speech translated to English by The Madrid Zone on twitter:
“HALA MADRID!, Thank you Florentino Perez for this opportunity. It’s a dream come true. I am excited to play alongside the best players in the world. I can’t wait to show Real Madrid fans what I can do on the pitch.”
“Signing for Real Madrid does not happen everyday. It’s a DREAM come true.”
First ever Real Madrid press conference
Following his presentation as a Real Madrid player, Trent then went over to the press room, where he answered some questions from the journalists present. The Englishman talked on a plethora of topics, as he shared the delight of representing the Royal Whites.
Of course the first question was always going to be about his excitation, as he said:
“How excited I am? Very, very excited. I’ve waited for this day for a long time. It’s a dream come true but there’s a lot of hard work to do.”
“I grew up watching this club winning 3 Champions Leagues in a row. A big reason why I joined is to join an exciting young team to win trophies. I am ready to start right away and travel to USA and win the Club World Cup.”
Talking about new head coach Xabi Alonso, Trent said:
“I spoke to Xabi Alonso. He’s a big idol of mine and to be able to work with him is a dream come true. His passing influenced me a lot. I’ll be like a sponge around Xabi learning from him.”
With the arrival of Trent, there’s expected to be an intense competition down right with Carvajal. When talking about the Spaniard, he said:
“Thoughts on Carvajal? He’s a fantastic player. A lot of respect to him and for what he’s achieved. You don’t achieve that without talent.”
Jude Bellingham has been a subject of a hate campaign from Liverpool fans on twitter, as they believe he directly influenced Trent’s decision to leave Liverpool. Both players are very good friends, so its not hard to figure why. When talking about his English teammate, Trent said:
“Bellingham? Yes, we spoke a lot about Madrid and Liverpool. The type of conversations you’d have with friends.
“People think Bellingham played a big role in me joining Real Madrid, but the club speaks for itself.”
When asked if he had ever imagined to play for Real Madrid, Trent replied:
“Did I ever think I’d play for Real Madrid? No. It’s a dream come true and I will never take it for granted.
There’s only a select handful of English players who played for Real Madrid, it’s special to be part of it.”
On his Spanish during presentation, he said:
“My Spanish? I’ve been learning for a few months (laughs).”
Trent had previously stated he wants to be a player in the Ballon d’or conversations. When asked if it motivated the move, he said:
“Was Ballon d’Or the factor in me joining Real Madrid? No, to be honest.”
“It will be very HARD to win the Ballon d’Or with the players on this team (laughs). I’m just happy I’ll play with them and not against them.”
On choosing Real Madrid, the player said:
“It was never a question of “where do I go”, it was always “do I go to Madrid or not?. I knew for a long time that I would ONLY leave Liverpool for Real Madrid. No one else.”
“Hopefully I’ll be able to replicate what I did for Liverpool here and give many assists to the attackers.”
Finally, the player said:
