Real Madrid football is back again after two weeks of international football. After the break, the Merengues will be back in action tonight, as the play away to Leganes.
In an underwhelming season sofar, every Real Madrid fan out there will only hope it doesn’t get worse than this. Currently 7 points behind Barca although with two games in hand, there is still some catching up to do.
Indeed if madrid were to win their two games in hand, they will only be 1 point behind leaders Barca. Ahead of tonight’s showdown, here are some three important points to keep at the back of your mind.
1. The title Race is still ALIVE!
With 9 points behind in October, all hopes seemed lost for Real Madrid. However, Barca has gone and shot themselves in the leg, picking up just 1 point of a possible 6. Now more than ever, Carlo Ancelotti and his men believe they are still very much in this.
Seated in third place after Atlético’s win yesterday, a win tonight against Leganes will take Real Madrid to second, just 4 point behind Barcelona. What’s more interesting is that even then, the Merengues will still have a game in hand.
2. Carlo Ancelotti’s future
As we reported earlier, Ancelotti was this close to being sacked, if he failed to get the results against osasuna. However, the team smashed their opponents on the night by 4-0.
Now, with all awareness of what is at stake, it will be interesting to see how Ancelotti goes about finding a solution under such pressure. Tonight could be the turning point.
3. Mbappé and Vinicius duo
Two of the most dangerous forwards in today’s football, yet have nothing in common. It was believed that these two will combine to cause havoc across Europe, and while Vinicius continues to be decisive, Mbappe is yet to find his footing.
Every match day is renewed hope for every madridistas to hope that the finally work out together, and tonight will be no different.
It’s taking for granted what both players could achieve together, and until the day comes, we will continue to hope.
