Thibaut Courtois “Stuttgart pressed us very well”

What a night it was for Thibaut Courtois at the Bernabéu. Often the unsung hero, Courtois put out another MOTM champions league performance, to prevent Stuttgart from causing an upset.

The Belgian was amongst the many Real Madrid stars who gave their two cents on the game, as he discussed on a variety of topics.

Amongst the many subjects the Belgian talked about, he was asked to comment on the overall performance from both teams, as he said;

 “Stuttgart are a very good offensive team and hurt us in the first 25 minutes, but after that we improved. We scored, and then they equalised, but we reacted well and won in the end.”

“They pressed very well, but we were able to get through on occasions. We have to work more. Winning is important for the new format.”

Courtois, was inspired by a young fan whom he saw putting on a Goalkeepers jersey as he said;

“My match shirt? I gave it to a boy who was wearing a goalkeeper’s kit. I hope he has dreams that he wants to achieve and that he can achieve them in goal.”

One of the highlights of the night was Endrick’s last minute winner, when he scored from an impossible angle. On that, the veteran said;

“Endrick not passing to Mbappé or Viní Jr showed his great personality. I would have k*lled him if he didn’t score, but thankfully he scored.

After last nights performance, Courtois racked up an incredible stat, as he has now saved 30 of the last 35 shots on target he has faced in the champions league.

With Real Madrid hopping to win the champions league for the 16th time, Courtois will no doubt play a big role. He has been impressive post injury, but there’s still the pressure of replicating Lunin’s last season performance.
