The Merengues are in active search for a midfielder this season. Some players like Enzo Fernandez, MacAllister, Angelo Stiller and Tijjani Reijnders have made the shortlist. However, it’s the Stuttgart star who’s making the most waves with relation to the club.
Real see Stiller’s profile as one much needed in the squad, as he is said to have similarities with Kroos. The club sees his signing as a booster for the upcoming season.
Stuttgart on the other hand will be demanding €50M for their prized asset, a fee Real Madrid do not intend to match. The Merengues are yet to submit an official offer, but their interest is well registered.
Stiller has a €36M release clause in 2026
As per AS, Real Madrid could get him in 2026 for just €36M by activating his release clause. Stuttgart can’t do anything but watch. However, if the German side can pay Stiller €2M before the start of next season, the release clause will be nullified.
Whether Stuttgart pay him the sum or not is currently undecided, or at least not communicated. One thing is clear, the player has a desire to play for Real, which makes a deal more likely.
Real Madrid also want Rodri in 2026
One of the reasons Madrid are reluctant to meet Stuttgart’s demanding fee for Stiller is their long standing interest in Rodri. Some section of the board think he could be the building foundation of this current midfield.
To some extent this decision doesn’t make sense to the fans, as Rodri is just coming back from an ACL injury. With not even upto 90 minutes under his belt since his return, there’s no telling if he touches his previous heights.
In addition to that, the fans are still bitter over last season’s Ballon d’or, as they feel Vinicius jr. deserved it. Whether Real Madrid signs Rodri in 2026 or not remains to be seen.
