Dean Huijsen has become a household name in Europe, Courtesy of the Spanish international’s breakthrough season with Bournemouth. In his first full season with the Cherries, Huijsen has established himself as an undisputed matchday starter under Andoni Iraola.

Dean Huijsen (19) gained his first international call up to the Spanish NT last week, as they challenge for the Nations league.

During his first few days with the La Roja, Huijsen – as any other Rookie, Made a media appearance, Discussing on a variety of topics.

As quoted by Relevo, here’s what he had to say with regards to Real Madrid’s interest:

“Real Madrid’s interest? It’s an honor to have such a big club interested in me. It’s special.”

It appears this is not the first time Real madrid have experience their desire on the young gem. What asked about past talks with the Los Blancos, he said:

“Real Madrid’s offer in the past? It was a very good option, but at the time I thought that the best thing for me was to learn a little bit of the defensive aspect, and I think I’ve learned it now.”

To add more fuel to the fire, the 19 year old also cited one of Real Madrid’s greatest legends as his idol:

“My idol? Sergio Ramos. For me, he’s the best CB in history. He has everything.”

The Future Of Real Madrid

The club might be short staffed in the CB department as of now with the ACL to Militão and Joan Martinez with Alaba barely fit, but one has the feeling it’s only a short lasting blow. The rise of Raul Asencio has completely changed the narrative.

Come next season, Real Madrid could have Raúl Asencio, Rüdiger, Alaba, Militão and Joan Martinez as CB options. The thought of adding another rising star in Dean Huijsen makes it even more interesting.
