Real Madrid want to hand Mbappe the number #10

With Luka Modric leaving after the club World Cup, he vacates one of the most prestigious shirt numbers in football. The number #10 is known for its high value, usually possessed by the most influential player in the squad.

At Real Madrid, Luka has been the bearer of such pride for a long time now, and a new heir is imminent. In a dressing room like Madrid’s, you bet there’s more than one deserving player.

Arda Guler for example, a creator and game controller by trade, many Real Madrid fans believe he deserves it. Jude Bellingham is another excellent shout. He has worn the number before while on national duties, and his abilities to play as a #10 on the field has made him a great shout.

Then there is Kylian Mbappe, a player embodied by greatness and elegance. He’s already French captain and bearer of the #10 shirt number with the French national team. It’s not hard to see why Real Madrid are leaning towards him as the favorite.

Mbappe currently wears the number #9, a more descriptive number for his role on the field. Since making the move from PSG, Kylian Mbappe has been operating centrally, with Vinicius Jr occupying the flank.

However, as per elchiringuito, Mbappe will be Real Madrid’s number #10 next season. The decision is not yet official, but it’s looking more likely by the day.

MBAPPE is the face of Real Madrid’s project

Kylian Mbappe joined Real Madrid 10 months ago as a squad player, and has through his performance convinced the higher ups he’s the star of  their project. Despite a disappointing first season, Kylian was the only bright light in a dark room.

He finished with some incredible records to his name, also breaking the record for most goals in a first season as a Real Madrid player. He won the Spanish Pichichi, European Golden Boot and was the player with most MOTM awards in laliga.

Mbappe is also amongst the front runners  for this season’s ballon D’or. Real Madrid want to give him more responsibilities as a leader, and believe the number #10 will be the first step.
