Alphonso Davies name is no stranger at Real Madrid, with the Canadian speedstar constantly linked with a move. The merengues have identified Davies as their long term option for LB, and have constantly made efforts to close a deal.
At one point last season, it looked a done deal, with personal terms agreed with the player. However, Bayern didn’t agree to let him go cheaply. The Bavarian giants highly rated their man, and did not want to settle for a bargain price, even if he only had one year left on his contract.
Real Madrid on the other end would never agree to break the bank for a player with just one year on his contract. This resulted in Davies staying at Bayern this season.
Amidst all this, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, has come out to shed light to the transfer heading into the next transfer window. (Via Madridxtra)
Real Madrid will advance talks by January
According to the source, Real Madrid plan on advancing talks with Davies, if he doesn’t extend by January. As per the rules, a player is free to negotiate with other clubs 6 months into the end of this contract and Real Madrid will take advantage of that.
As of today, Davies looks more out than in, as far as Bayern is concerned. The Canadian is yet to reach an agreement with Bayern, and it doesn’t look like it will happen anytime soon.
The main factor behind the player and club’s fallout is with regards to Davies’ salary demands. The player is demanding an annual wage of €20m, while Bayern won’t offer pass €13m,
Rumors even emerged lately, claiming Bayern have already almost given up on Davies. The club is now willing to let Davies leave for free, if he does not curve towards their offer.
This will indeed come as big news to Real Madrid, who want to upgrade the LB position. The los blancos see Davies as the upgrade of Ferland Mendy next season.
