Real sociedad star Martin Zubimendy has been making waves for a while now across Europe. He has been world class in the league and in Europe for the last two seasons in a row now, gathering interest from some top clubs.

The player was so close to joining Liverpool last summer, and only a late twist saw the deal not push through. Arsenal and man city from the EPL have also emerged as potential suitors.

Giving how good the player continues to be, coupled with Real Madrid’s injury crisis, Spanish journalist Jose Felix Diaz has dropped an update linking the player to the club.

Zubimendy is a Possible Target

According to the source, the Merengues have been closely following the player for a while now. The report also claims that the club is following a number of Midfielders at the moment, but none seems to move them as Zubimendy does.

In the same report, one thing was made clear: Real Madrid are NOT interested in Rodri. This comes after a recent interview, where Rodri seemed pretty open to the idea of joining Real Madrid in the future.

For as long as Madrid are concerned, Rodri is not an option. Should Incase they should see the need to splash big money on a Midfielder, Zubimendy will be the guy.

However, signing the player will not be a work in the park. They first need to shove off interest from other European heavyweights, convince the player and match the transfer fee.

With a contract that runs until 2027, Zubimendy has a release clause of €60M tied to his contract. Knowing Real Madrid, they will try to beat that price as low as they can.

Taking all things into consideration, it doesn’t look like the player is a MUST sign for Madrid. With all the talent available in their current squad, the club will be in no rush to sign a Midfielder.

Besides, they have other priorities such as the CB, and fullbacks department.
