Alonso to Real Madrid has to be amongst the worst kept secrets in football’s transfer history. The Merengues have been always vocal about their admiration for the Spaniard, even when Ancelotti was winning almost everything in the 2023/24 season.
The Real Madrid faithfuls all fell in love with his playing style and tactical understanding of the game, impatiently awaiting his return. Today marks the end of the wait, as Real Madrid’s official website has now announced Xabi Alonso as its new manager.
The Spaniard has reportedly signed with the Royal whites until June 2028, and will resume office on June 30. An official presentation at Real Madrid city will take place tomorrow.

Not fazed by pressure at all, you can bet on Alonso to pull this off just fine. We already saw how he transformed Leverkusen from a Relegation battling team to Bundesliga champions while unbeaten.
The assets and quality are also there to facilitate success, with the club boosting with some of Europe’s biggest names. Success is evident for Alonso at Real Madrid.
