Real Madrid has been surprisingly very active this summer in the transfer market, in their quest to bounce from last season. The Merengues have already landed Trent, Huijsen and Mastantuono, with the latter expected to arrive in August. Despite completing 3 signings already, word is that more signings could still arrive, reports Fabrizio Romano.
One player almost guaranteed a move to the club this summer is Alvaro Carreras from Benfica. The player was initially expected to arrive in time for the club World Cup, but a deal couldn’t be reached. When talking about the situation, Benfica’s president Rui Costa said:
“We didn’t reach an agreement with Real Madrid for Alvaro Carreras. The offers we received did NOT satisfy our demands.”
However, Real Madrid reportedly phoned the player a few days ago, to reassure him of their interest as we reported. A move is expected to materialize after the club World Cup.
A midfield & striker signing not far fetched.
As we reported three weeks ago, Xabi Alonso has demanded for the signing of a pure number #9. Names on their shortlist include Ante Budimir, William Jose, and Roberto Firmino.
Talking about midfield signings, a good number of top names have been linked with the club. However, there’s no clear option as of yet.
Going into the club World Cup, Alonso plans on using Jude Bellingham in a more deeper role, more like a CM. After the competition, Xabi Alonso will decide if another CM is needed based on Jude’s performances.
One name I’d like to mention is Angelo Stiller of stuttgart. The player has been linked to the club for a long good while now, and is the most convincing cost effective option.
However, Stuttgart are currently demanding €50m for the player, with no plans to negotiate. It’s still unknown if Real Madrid would fancy matching that price tag.
