Alvaro Carreras has been on the headlines a lot lately, following Real Madrid’s interest in the Benfica star. The player had reportedly reached personal terms with the Merengues, and all that was left was a financial agreement between both clubs.
Carreras has a release clause of €50M to his name, an amount which Real Madrid are willing to trigger. However, with a cup final on the horizon, the Los Blancos decided to pause any further talks as to not distract the player or Benfica’s focus.
With the final done with last weekend, Benfica appreciates the little gesture from Madrid, and are willing to open talks. As a matter of fact, both parties have already reached an agreement, ‘here we go!’ Coming soon. This report resurfaced courtesy of Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Benfica are now preparing an official announcement for the player’s departure, as Carreras is set to be Real Madrid’s new LB. He will also participate in the club World Cup as a Real Madrid player. A competition Benfica are also involved in.
Xabi Alonso previously had interest in Carreras
During his Bayer Leverkusen days, Xabi Alonso scouted a lot of players for the German side. Alvaro Carreras was definitely one of the, reports Fabrizio Romano.
The coach appreciates the player’s profile a lot, and is very excited with his on and off ball movements, which fits perfectly into his system. Now, the big opportunity presents itself at Real Madrid.
This is definitely some very good news for Carreras on a personal level. He’ll be joining the club as a player signed by the board, but also admired and wanted by the coach.
Any moment from now, both parties could announce the deal, but for what it’s worth, the deal is already closed. Only an official announcement remains. Alvaro Carreras is the latest Real Madrid signing this summer.
