Since joining Real Madrid this summer, kylian Mbappe has been on fire for the club. After a poor start to the league, firing blank in the first three opening games, Mbappe would go on to redeem himself. He has now scored five goals and provided one assist in his last four games, scoring consecutively across every of those games.
The Frenchman’s current form makes it an even harder pill to swallow for Carlo ancelotti, owing to his absence tonight. Suffering from a hamstring injury sine Tuesday night when Real Madrid faced Alaves, Mbappe was ruled out for the next three weeks. This meant he would miss the Madrid Derby as well.
However, despite the blow, French newspaper lequipe has reported the player wanted to make an appearance in the stands. The French captain wanted to cheer up his teammates from the stadium itself. [Via Madridxtra]
Real Madrid refused Mbappe from attending the derby
Despite the player’s desire to attend the big game, the club didn’t see things that way. As per source, the club prevented him from doing so, because they wanted to avoid any incidents in the stands.
This means the player will have to cheer for his teammates from home. However, this is a quite logical decision from the club.
It has not been the smoothest of relationships between the two capital clubs, with Atlético fans always aiming racist insults towards Vinicius.
With the game being played away from home at the civitas metropolitano, atleti fans are bound to outnumber Madrid fans. With this, the club thinks some of the fans might have a go at their star man.
In the absence of the Frenchman, Real Madrid will look to take home all three points, moving to just one point behind Barcelona in this seasons LaLiga standings after match day 8. The blaugranas lost 4-2 to osasuna last night.
A win tonight would also mean Real Madrid now sit five points ahead of their city rivals.
