Luka Modric REJECTED €100M Saudi offer in 2023

Right until the end of his Real Madrid career, Luka Modric passion has never been influenced by money. It’s fair to say his desire and the love for its fans has always been the fuel all along.

Sadly, at 39 that chapter of his life would come to an end, as both parties went separate ways this summer. However, if you put that into context, a 39 soon to be 40 years old leaving Real Madrid shouldn’t be on the front cover of all newspapers UNLESS your name is Luka Modric.

13 years, that’s how long Modric spent at Real Madrid, joining from Tottenham in 2012 at 26. He showed nothing but pure class and loyalty throughout those years.

Talking about Loyalty, it would appear Luka Modric rejected a life Changing salary 2 years ago, to continue his dream of playing for Real Madrid. The offer came from Saudi big spenders.

As per reports by Elchiringuitotv, Modric was offered a €100M across 2 seasons deal. The player was expected to earn €50M net per season without any tax applied.

The contract also included a €20M signing on bonus, as Luka Modric was on a free transfer. He and Real Madrid had still not reached a consensus over a new contract extension.

Luka was earning €20M at Real Madrid, but decided to pass on a life changing opportunity to stay in  Madrid. Now if that isn’t Loyalty, then I don’t know what to call it.

He ended up renewing a 1 year deal, in a season where he would touch even greater heights. Real Madrid 2023/24 was such a thing of Beauty, winning almost everything bar the Copa del Rey.

Most importantly, he equaled Paco Gento as the player with the most UCL titles (6), and went on to become the most decorated Real Madrid player. Luka now leaves Real Madrid with 28 titles under his belt.
