It’s been long day at Real Madrid today, after the club announced the injury to star forward kylian Mbappe. Following last night’s 3-2 win against Alaves, the Frenchman was visibly seen asking to be subbed off, after feeling a blow to his hamstring.
Initial reports last night suggested it was just a minor blow, with Ancelotti confirming it’s nothing serious. However, after initial tests this morning, the results are officially out.
Real Madrid’s test report
After initial tests were conducted on the player, the club’s official website released a communique, updating it’s fans on the incident. An official statement read;
Following tests carried out today by Real Madrid’s Medical Services on our player Kylian Mbappé, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg. His progress will be monitored.
This will come as a big blow for Real Madrid ahead of the Madrid Derby. The two capital clubs Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid are set to face-off on Sunday, at the Wanda metropolitano stadium. It’s accurate to say Real Madrid will be without Mbappe for this one.
Mbappé’s return date
Following the official announcement, reports began to flood-in, predicting a possible return date. Amongst the reports, reliable journalist Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, has shed light to the incident. (Via Madridxtra)
According to the source, kylian Mbappe is set to be sidelined for three weeks. A return for the Frenchman is expected after the next international break.
Mbappe is now completely ruled out against;
Atlético Madrid (A)
Lille (A)
Villarreal (H)
The next game after the international break, will be at home to celta vigo. Mbappe is expected to return by then.
Indeed, kylian isn’t the only one out on injury for Real Madrid. The likes of Brahim Diaz, David Alaba, Joan Martinez and Dani Ceballos are all out, while they’re still question marks for Camavinga and Carvajal.
