Real Madrid are expected to pay around €50M, and sign the player for 5 seasons.

United won’t trigger their buy-back clause

As part of their deal to let Carreras join Benfica, Manchester United included an €18M buyback option in his deal. This means they could get him back for as low as €18M this summer if they wanted to.

This was a major scare for the Merengues at the beginning, as if United felt the need for his return, the deal would collapse. However, Manchester United have no plans of activating that clause. Real Madrid has an open route to close the deal.

With that being said, timing is now the problem. The deal could be closed as early as this week so he joins Xabi Alonso’s training sessions ahead of the CWC.
