Dani Ceballos was one of those players who were linked with a move away from Real Madrid this summer. It was widely expected that the player will join his former side Real Betis.
However, to the surprise of many, the Spaniard ended up staying with Real Madrid. Just a few days after the transfer window slammed shot, it’s now being reported that Ceballos has picked up an injury.
The extent of Ceballos’ injury
As per Spanish journalist SQuirante (as quoted by Madridxtra), Ceballos got INJURED, and will spend 6/8 weeks OUT.
This was then followed by an official statement from Real Madrid which read;
“After the tests carried out on our player Dani Ceballos by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with a grade III sprain with involvement of the ligaments in the right ankle. Pending evolution.
According to the club’s statement, Ceballos is suffering from a grade III sprain in the right ankle. Amidst all this journalist SQuirante also pointed out to the fact that Ceballos is currently on crutches.
Spanish media DAZN_ES (via Madrid Xtra) also provided further confirmation on the player being on crutches while pointing at a potential 2 months absence.
How did Ceballos get injured?
On Sunday night, Real Madrid took-on Real Betis at home at the Santiago Bernabéu. On the night, Dani Ceballos was one of the starters for Real Madrid.
According to a report from Real Madrid’s correspondent for Reliable newspaper the athletic, Mario Cortegana claimed Ceballos got injured during the early stages of the second half.
The player however continued forcing the situation till he couldn’t anymore when Ancelotti subbed him off in the 65th minute of play.
A big blow for Real Madrid
Yet another injury to an already growing list of injured players for Real Madrid. With Ceballos now out, Real Madrid will only have Valverde, Arda Güler, Tchouaméni and Valverde for whole of September.
