Trent Alexander Arnold made the headlines when news of him joining Real Madrid broke. A Liverpool native, Trent will be completing a free transfer to Spain this summer, as Liverpool failed to convince him to put pen to paper.
As expected, Liverpool fans didn’t appreciate the idea of him leaving, let alone the fact he was going for free. With the season in its last straw, the Liverpool fans have repeatedly booed Trent after every game, and some fans were filmed burning his jersey in open air.
It didn’t just end with burning jerseys and booes in the stadium, some fans took their outrage to social media. Twitter fans in particular, have shown that there’s no love left for the scouser.
Amidst all the disrespect, Former Reds boss Jurgen Klopp appeared to show support to the player.
“Don’t forget what he has done for this club” Klopp urges angry Liverpool fans
Speaking in a ceremony in Liverpool, Jurgen was very clear what he thought of the booes as he said:
“I don’t wanna tell anyone how to feel, or tell you not to be angry that he’s leaving (for Madrid). But I want to tell you not to forget what he has done for this club. At Liverpool we don’t forget.
Jurgen Klopp didn’t just end there, as he made sure the Liverpool faithfuls understood how embarrassing their actions were:
“I heard the booes when he came on and immediately switched my tv off. I couldn’t be more disappointed. This isn’t us.”
Trent’s presentation at Real Madrid
With the club World Cup around the corner, Real Madrid will announced Trent NEXT WEEK. The player will be in action on Sunday against crystal palace, in what will be his final appearance for the Reds.
Real Madrid’s dream is for the player to be available for the Club World Cup in the United States next month. The club is prepared to pay the compensation fee to Liverpool for that to happen.
The fee is expected to be somewhere in the region of €2M, and the player is expected to forgo his salary for the last months. That’s not going to be a problem for both player and Real Madrid.
