Raphael Varane will will greatly be remembered as one of the history makers at Real Madrid. Young Varane (17) made his professional debut for RC Lens in 2010, and after a brilliant season, would go on to join Real Madrid in 2011.
Lens sold Varane to Real Madrid in 2011, following relegation for €10m. The player would go on to spend 10 successful years at Real Madrid.
Shockingly, at the age of 31, Raphael Varane has announced his retirement from professional football.

In an Instagram post earlier today, Raphael Varane wrote;
“They say all good things must come to an end”
“in my career, I have taking on many challenges, rose to occasion after occasion, almost all of it was supposed to be impossible. Incredible emotions, special moments and memories that will last a lifetime. Reflecting on this moments, it is with immense pride and a feeling of fulfillment that I am announcing my retirement from the game that we all love”
The former Real Madrid and Manchester United man joined Series A side Como, managed by Cesc fabrigas as a free agent this season, and managed only 23 minutes in the new season. According to reports, this retirement comes after sustaining a serious knee injury with his new side.
