Europe most in form striker was OFFERED to Real Madrid, but the club said NO

Real Madrid is considered the pinnacle of European football, almost every top talent in Europe dreams of representing the royal whites one day. The club’s legacy speaks for itself, one that sets them apart from other Europe  great. Most often, once a player reaches their peak, the first thing they ask their agents is: “are Real Madrid interest?.”

In some cases, if the Los Blancos are not looking their way, they push their agents to initiate a call and test the waters. That has been the case with one of Europe’s most in form striker, reports MarioCortegana.

As per the source, Viktor Gyokeres of sporting CP was offered to the Los Blancos this summer, but the club said NO. The player recently rejected a move to Manchester United who were pushing hard, as he wants to compete at the highest level. After a disastrous season with no European football to offer, the player wasn’t all that flattered by United’s interest.

Real Madrid want a Joselu type striker.

Gyokeres might be at the peak of his powers, but he doesn’t suit the profile Real Madrid are actively in search of. The Swedish international narrowly lost the Golden boot to Kylian Mbappe on the last day, by just 3.5 points.

Despite scoring 8 more League goals (39) than Mbappe, Gyokeres finds himself out of Europe’s top 5 leagues. This means his tally is calculated at a coefficient of 1.5, compared to Mbappe’s coefficient of 2. Mbappe finished first with 62 points, while Gyokeres followed behind with 58.5.

However, this is not the profile Real Madrid are looking for. As we reported 2 weeks ago, Real Madrid are looking for a Joselu type striker. The Merengues are actively scouting the market for a veteran, with very minimal transfer fee and wages.

Gyokeres, 27, is valued at £60m, a fee not even close to what Real Madrid have in mind. At the peak of his powers, the striker won’t accept a secondary role in the squad. This is what Real Madrid are offering with players like Mbappe designated starters.

The most likely name linked with the club is Ante Budimir, 33 years old, who managed 21 Laliga goals with Osasuna. Other alternative include Roberto Firmino and William Jose.
