The 2024/25 season has been a real life reality check for madridistas, atleast for this first four months. On the arrival of superstar signing kylian Mbappe, it was widely expected that the Merengues will cruise pass every opponent with ease. So far, it’s Barcelona who look the unstoppable force.
Both domestically and in Europe, Barcelona has been by far the better team between the two rivals. The Blaugranas even dominated the first three months of the season, with Raphinha, Lewandowski and Yamal winning LaLiga POTM for August, September and October respectively.
However, the streak has now been broken by Real Madrid’s very own difference maker.
VinÃcius Jr has won LaLiga POTM for November
In a month that saw Real Madrid win 2/2 in the league, Vinicius was the player who shined the most. The Merengues defeated Osasuna 4-0 at home, and 0-3 away at Leganes. An aggregate of 7-0.
Across this two games, Vinicius was the author of a hat-trick against osasuna. He also registering an assist against Leganes one week ago. No player had better numbers in this period of time than the Brazilian.
However, it wasn’t all roses for Real Madrid during this month of November. This comes after the LaLiga POTM suffered a blow in Madrid’s last league game against Leganes. The player is expected to miss upto 3 weeks.
This injury proved costly on Wednesday, as the Merengues were humbled 2-0 at Anfield without their superstar.
Big problems without Vinicius
The lose to Liverpool meant Madrid now find themselves 24th in the UCL group stage table. This is the last qualifying position for playoffs.
As if that was not enough, games against Athletic club, Atalanta, Getafe Girona and Rayo are all fast coming. The Brazilian is expected to miss all of this fixtures.
Tomorrow’s opponent Getafe, boosts one of the best defensive records in the league. This Real Madrid side led by Mbappe on the night will have to give more than 100% to secure 3 points.
