Real are now gearing up to Kick-start their UCL campaign tomorrow night against Stuttgart at the Santiago Bernabéu. Ahead of the big night, vice captain Dani Carvajal was the player who joined Ancelotti for the pre-match presser.
The Spaniard discussed on a lot of topics, including Racism, his future, club ambitions, injuries and more.
Carvajal’s pre-match presser
Flooded with questions, Carvajal was first asked to comment on the new UCL season, as he said;
“This competitions means a lot to this club. We will give 100% from the start.
“Another CL title? I can’t believe I was able to match Paco Gento’s CL title record. We will work hard again this season, let’s see.”
Ahead of the night, Real Madrid will face an unfamiliar opponent in Stuttgart, on that Carvajal said;
“New rival tomorrow, I hope they will like our stadium and the game. We can’t wait. We know Stuttgart love to keep the ball, and we have to take it away from them. That’s the key.”
Last week, we reported that Real Madrid had informed Carvajal their intentions to renew his contract, when asked to comment on that, Carvajal said:
“My future? I will leave when I see I no longer have the level to play in the first team.”
“Real Madrid only offering 1 year renewal? Well it is the club’s policy that when a player reaches a certain age to renew year by year. As far as I’m concerned, there will not be any problem.”
Vinicius Jr has been one player mostly targeted by racist in Spain recently, and his celebration against Real sociedad has raised eyebrows. When asked to comment on that, Carvajal said;
“Vinicius’ gesture after his goal? We heard the insults towards him. You provoke, you receive.”
“My message is clear, as Spain or Real Madrid’s captain, ZERO tolerance against racism.”
Earlier this morning, we reported that Eder Militão had missed out on training, with Carvajal being and option to replace him tomorrow. On that, the Spaniard said;
“Militão and CB position? He suffered a knock. I played in that position without problems. I play where Ancelotti asks me.”
Talking about injuries and recoveries, Carvajal was delighted to have Bellingham back;
“Jude Bellingham is back and it’s a fantastic news for everyone. We’re happy that he’ll be in the squad for tomorrow.”
New signing kylian Mbappe will be looking to make a strong impression on his UCL debut with the club tomorrow. When asked if the younger had asked for any advise, he said;
“Kylian Mbappé asked for advices? He’s not new to European nights. But I’m sure he will remember tomorrow’s game forever.”
Finally, Carvajal was asked to comment on his chances of winning this year’s Ballon d’Or, after an impressive campaign, as he said;
