Brazil icon and 2x World Cup winner Cafu is the latest sport’s great to hype Luka Modric’s move to AC Milan. The move is said to be finalized and signed on a one year agreement, only lacking an official announcement. Modric is expected to earn around €3-4m gross salary per year.
Owing to the move, AC Milan’s very own legend seems to be very excited about the latest addition of his former club. Cafu enjoyed great success with the Rossineri, notably in the 2006/07 season when he led them to a champions league triumph.
On Luka Modric joining AC Milan, the Brazil icon said, as quoted by Gazzetta_it:
“Luka Modrić to AC Milan? I saw him a few days ago but he didn’t ask me anything about how life is in Milan (laughs). It’s a move by Milan who in the past have bought several experienced players who have football in their blood.
Luka is a born leader and a former Ballon d’Or winner. He moves the ball like few others in the world and for him age doesn’t matter.”
Insisting on the gravity of the signing AC Milan have just gotten over the line, Cafu said:
“Maybe we don’t realize it, but it’s the former Real Madrid captain who has arrived. A player with a suitcase full of titles.”
Coming from a player who is held at the highest esteem by Milan fans, this aren’t just mere praises towards Modric. This is a welcome and a firsthand acceptance with more to follow.
Modric’s Milan medicals Already scheduled
As we reported last week, Luka decided to push his Medicals with AC Milan to after the Club World Cup. The player wants to respect and focus on Real Madrid, and only think elsewhere once his job is done.
Modric wants a perfect goodbye from Madrid, and he thinks winning one last title as captain tops it all. Should Real Madrid go all the way, then Modric will join AC Milan in late July or early August.
