Real Madrid failed to pickup all three points in the opening match day of the 2024/25 LaLiga season, when they drew 1-1 to Mallorca.
Against Mallorca, Carlo Ancelotti initial started the same squad as he did against Atalanta, a tactical move many madridistas didn’t appreciate that much as the players where visible tired.
Lineup vs Real Valladolid
Ancelotti has gone for the traditional 433 lineup, so as to give priority to his attacking trio.
🔘 Gk; Thibaut Courtois
🔘Defence: Carvajal – Militão – Rüdiger – Fran Garcia
🔘Midfield : Valverde – Tchouaméni – Arda Güler
🔘 Attack: Vinicius Jr – Mbappe – Rodrygo
Arda Güler starts
This is a moment many madridistas have been waiting for. It’s no secret how talented Arda Güler is, and his performances at the Euros coupled with his performances at the back end of last season has got many fans pressuring the manager to make space for him in the squad
Last season when he joined, three injuries on the bounce meant he would miss the entirety of the first half of the season, and only made a regular appearance when the league was almost won. The youngstar will look to capitalize on his chances today, atleast until Bellingham returns.
Endrick and Modrić on the bench
When Endrick joined Real Madrid this summer, it was no secret as to the competition the young Brazilian would face in the squad, owing to the fact that kylian Mbappe is his direct competition. The youngstar will need to work an extra mile to change his current situation
As for Modrić, who was widely tipped to be the Replacement for the injured Bellingham, although Ancelotti has opted to go for Güler, a 30 minutes Cameo is not ruled out for the club captain.
Attacking expectations
Against Mallorca, the attack was one of those areas of the pitch who seemed lost and couldn’t quite connect together. Even star man Jude Bellingham had to urge his attacking teammates to finish up attacking actions so as to avoid counterattacks.
Heading to todays match it will be interesting to see how Ancelotti has worked on that area of the squad.
