Real Madrid are amongst the few European clubs with an incredible knack for young talents. The merengues have hit the jackpot by investing in unpolished players in the past, Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo and Fede Valverde as prime examples. It seems the club have identified another in Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Skelly has made waves with Arsenal this season as a rookie, stepping up from the academy when Mikel Arteta badly needed a solution. His incredible versatility ranks him over the top, as he can cope both as a midfielder and a LB.
The 2006 born has earned the hype, showing incredible maturity at such a young age. Real Madrid are flattered by his quality.
Myles Lewis-Skelly’s contractual situation
Skelly, 18, has a contact with Arsenal until June 30th 2026, leaving him with just one year till he’s on a free transfer if he doesn’t extend. As per The Guardian sport, renewal talks with Arsenal are NOT going well.
Real Madrid are looking to pounce on this opportunity, and will try to lure the gem to the Spanish capital. However, taking an Arsenal’s made talent won’t be a walk in the park.
As per Transfer Markt’s official website, Lewis-Skelly currently has a market value of €28M to his name. Arsenal would demand way more than that should Real Madrid insist on its interest for the player.
How do Real Madrid plan to accommodate Myles Lewis-Skelly?
With the signing of Alvaro Carreras all but confirmed, Real Madrid appears to be covered in the LB department. This only means one thing for Skelly. ‘Midfield.’
The competition for a midfield spot at Real Madrid is as fierce as survival in the jungle, especially for a young player. Real Madrid boasts some of the biggest names in midfield, including the likes of Jude Bellingham, Tchouameni, Camavinga, Valverde and Arda Guler amongst others. Talks of another midfield signing is gaining ground, Coupled with news of Nico Paz rerun.
No doubt Skelly will be an incredible addition for Real Madrid, but he will have to fight toe and nail to save a spot. However, this is just rumors for now, but with a long window ahead, nothing can be ruled out.
