Real Madrid fall short yet again!. In the opening three games of the 2024/25 LaLiga, Real Madrid have now dropped 4 points out of a possible 9.
Tonight’s clash oversaw a horrible performance from the entire squad, showing no sense of chemistry.
First half summary
Real Madrid started the game from minute one chasing the ball. In the 6th minute of play, a series of poor defending from the entire defensive line opened up a chance for A. Moleiro, who took his chance perfectly.
After the goal, Las Palmas continued to be the dominant side until like the 20th minute. When Real Madrid did regain possession afterwards, it was to no avail as they lacked the creativity to open up the opposition defense.
However, during the first half, Real Madrid did have some decent chances through on goal. Valverde, Mbappe and Rüdiger were the players with some quality shots on goal in a rather boring first half.
Las Palmas however, were comfortable seating deep and absorbing pressure throughout the half after an early goal.
Second half summary
Real Madrid had total control in the early stages of the second half. As the game progressed las Palmas did have their own chances throughout the half as well.
The merengues had a couple of shots unsuccessful, not until the penalty incident. Vinicius Jr made no mistakes from the spot as he put the penalty pass the keeper leveling scores in the 68th minute.
Youngstar Arda Güler who had earlier come on waisted no time to make an impact as the youngstar created 3 chances, 2 big chances and won the penalty which Vinicius converted.
Endrick was also introduced late on, with the youngstar seeing a couple of chances come his way but failed to capitalize.
However, the story would have been a whole lot different as las Palmas thought they’d win it late on. The ball eventually hit the back of the net but play was called back for offside.
Disappointed performances
It was indeed a bad day at the office for everyone, more so for the strikers. Although Vinicius Jr scored he had almost every decision wrong.
Kylian Mbappe on the other side, showed flashes of brilliance but fact remains he’s on a three game draught.
Brahim Diaz and Modrić were far from their best nights, and even the incoming Rodrygo was no exception.
What’s next for Real Madrid?
For one last time before a 2 weeks international break, Real Madrid play host to Real Betis. The Santiago Bernabéu will play host to the must win game on Sunday, with Real Madrid looking to close the gap on top spot.
