Toni Kroos is widely recognized as one of the greatest Midfielders to ever grace the pitch. The German Midfielder decided to hang up his boots after a very successful season, ending a 10 years stint with the club at the age of 34.
However, Toni has been doing the rounds on the media in the last 24 hours for a controversial comment. In an interview with Spanish publication, Diario AS, Kroos gave his two cents on the possible LaLiga winner.
Kroos’ take on LaLiga top three
In the said interview, Kroos was asked who he saw best placed to win the 2024/25 LaLiga title. The Midfield maestro casually replied;
“Real Madrid will win the league, I have no doubt.
The German did not end there, as he went farther to talk on the race for the second and third spot;
There will be a fight for second place where Atlético Madrid will beat Barcelona.” Kroos concluded.
Toni Kroos, during his final season at Real Madrid, participated in a total of 48 games. Kroos contributed a total of 11 goals and assists during that period, scoring 1 goal and setting up 10 more.
The highlight of Kroos’ final season at Real Madrid will be his UCL final assist to Dani Carvajal. In a game where the merengues struggled to find a breakthrough it only needed a perfectly curved corner from the maestro to find an unmarked Dani Carvajal who headed home to open scoring for madrid and the rest is history.
Are Real Madrid LaLiga favorites?
Real Madrid are the current LaLiga defending champions and would be looking to to break a 17 years curse. In the last 17 years, the club has failed to win back-to-back LaLiga titles.
This season however presents an event greater chance to break such a curse, owing to the addition of star signing kylian Mbappe. The French man finally accomplished his long awaited dream of playing for Real Madrid and will be looking to cap it off with a league title in his first season.
However, With just 4 points out of a possible 6, Real Madrid find themselves already chasing the league with Barcelona top. The season is however still long and nothing can be concluded yet.
Given Kroos’ global acceptance, his words carry alot of weight and it’s left to see if they come to past.
