As it was confirmed yesterday, Vinicius Jr picked up and injury in sunday’s showdown against Leganes. According to a video by DAZN_ES, the player suffered the said blow in the first half of the game, although he played full 90′.

Concerning the injury, an official statement by Real Madrid read:

“Following the tests carried out today on our player Vini Jr, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the femoral biceps of his left leg.”

Prior to the report, news began to flood in, speculating a potential return date for the superstar. Amidst this reports, COPE was amongst the most accurate.

Vinícius will be out for three weeks.

According to the report, Vinicius Jr is expected to be sidelined for upto three weeks. In this period, a total of 6 games must have been played.

The games he will miss include against: Liverpool, Getafe, Athletic club, Girona, Atalanta and against Rayo.

Amongst all, the Liverpool clash tomorrow at Anfield will be the biggest miss of them all. Real Madrid find themselves in a very tricky position in the champions league table, and with no room for error will be without their most in form player so far this season.

Liverpool, their next opponent are In the form of their lives. Leading the table in both UCL and the league, they won’t be a work in the park for madrid more so without Vini.

Champions League aside, Real Madrid have been chasing top spot in LaLiga since Day one. Although they are currently just 4 point off rivals Barca with a game in hand, things only recently went in their favour.

Winning their last 2 LaLiga games with an aggregate of 7-0, Barca have dropped back-to-back points. A defeat against Real sociedad and a draw vs Celta saw them pick only one point out of six. Now more than ever, the title charge is still alive.

However with Vinicius Jr injured, Kylian Mbappe will get a run at his favorite position until Vinicius returns in December. The merengues will hope he steps up now that they need him.
