Heading into this summer’s transfer window, one thing is 100% clear. The fact that Trent Alexander Arnold will leave Liverpool on a free transfer, and will join Real Madrid. The timing of a deal for now is the only uncertainty.
Real Madrid are pushing hard to have the player participate in the upcoming Club World Cup, but his contractual obligations with Liverpool doesn’t make it a walk in the park. Trent will be a Liverpool player under contract till June 30th, while the competition starts on June 15th. Of course a squad release is expected much earlier.
For that reason, Real Madrid MUST negotiate with Liverpool if they want the player to participate. This will mean Trent leaving with over half a month left on his contract.
Real Madrid have Accelerated Talks with Liverpool
As per English journalist Paul Joyce, Real Madrid have stepped up their pursuit to sign Trent for the Club World Cup. Spanish sources claim an official deal could be struck within the next 24 hours.
According to MatteMoretto, Real Madrid are just ONE STEP AWAY from an agreement. The norm is that Alexander Arnold will be a Real Madrid player much sooner.
Sacrifices have been made from both player and Real Madrid to achieve this, with Trent forgoing his salary for this last months. Real Madrid for their part, has had to pay a fee for a player who’s on a free transfer. The amount is rumored to be around €4M.
A big boost for Real & Alonso
From a financial standpoint, Trent participating in the Club World Cup will be very beneficial for Real Madrid. Alonso is also set to get a world class RB from day one, instead of the out of form Lucas Vasquez.
Should Real Madrid go all the way in the competition, there will be no regretting the fee paid. With the addition of new signings, they are most definitely among the favorites.
